Why have life insurance?

If the worst happens, would your family be able to cover the ongoing costs of mortgage or rent payments, bills and day-to-day expenses?

By paying a monthly life insurance premium you'll be covered and a cash sum could be paid out if you die during the term of the policy, giving your family financial security.

For an extra cost, you can add Critical Illness Cover when taking out your policy and help protect against the financial impact a critical illness could have on you and your family.**

At Police Mutual, we are always looking for opportunities to offer products to our members and their families, which is why we have carefully chosen to work with Legal & General to offer direct life insurance and the option to add Critical Illness Cover.

Life Insurance will give you that extra peace of mind for the length of the policy, including life after the Police.

Why Legal & General?

Legal & General are one of the leading life insurance providers in the UK, and were voted "Life Insurance Provider of the Year (Direct)" at Moneyfacts Consumer Awards, 2017.

Important information

It’s important you understand all of the key features of Life Insurance if you are considering applying.

These products have no cash value unless a valid claim is made.

If you stop paying your premiums your cover will end 30 days after the first missed premium.

If your life insurance policy is to cover your mortgage, your policy may not completely pay off your outstanding mortgage unless you ensure that your amount of cover is adjusted to match any new mortgage arrangements.

For Decreasing Life Insurance you must also check that the interest rate applied to your mortgage does not become higher than the interest rate applied to your policy.

For Critical Illness Cover you should be aware that some types of cancer are not included and to make a claim for some illnesses, you need to have permanent symptoms.
