Being physically healthy plays a hugely important role in our ability to live a long and fulfilling life. People who are physically active, eat a balanced diet and sleep well tend to be healthier, less prone to medical problems and more able to maintain a relaxed state of mind. This means they are better equipped to deal with the challenges of everyday life and able to function to the best of their ability.

There is increasing recognition of the need for us all to adopt a healthier lifestyle but differing and often confusing advice on how to keep healthy can make it difficult to achieve. The vital importance of a fit and healthy Police Service is obvious, yet Police personnel can have busy, physically demanding roles; all too often putting themselves and their health at the bottom of the priority list.
