We were incredibly pleased to sponsor the Police Unity Tour last month - and incredibly proud that our very own Anthony Wilson took part in the 170-mile cycle ride from the National Police Memorial in London to Staffordshire's National Memorial Arboretum.
The tour raised £75,000 for Care of Police Survivors (COPS), a charity dedicated to helping the families of Police Officers who have lost their lives on duty rebuild their lives.
Over 150 cyclists from across the UK took part, including Police Officers, Staff and the families of fallen Officers. Each cyclist rode in memory of a fallen Officer and was given a bracelet with the late Officer's name, force and last date of duty engraved on it. This was handed over to the Officer's family when the tour arrived at the National Memorial Arboretum.
Anthony said: "I would like to thank Police Mutual for giving me the opportunity to represent the organisation and experience the Police Unity Tour. I would also like to thank all my colleagues who helped me fundraise for such an important charity."
Claire Long, our Head of Police Service Engagement, added: "We're proud to have been able to support such a great event, which brings together the families of fallen Officers and representatives from throughout the Police family.
"We'd like to thank Anthony for representing us and cycling 170 miles in memory of PC Berin Underwood. We'd also like to thank our colleague Diane Whylie for singing at an emotional service to remember the fallen Officers.
"We're incredibly pleased to announce that including all donations on Anthony's page, our fundraising activities and a generous donation from our Executive team, we raised £2,196 for COPS."comments powered by Disqus
