Hampshire winner

May is a winning month for Hampshire

May proved to be a lucky month for Hampshire Police, with not one but TWO winners in the force.

Inspector Steve Jackson picked up a trophy and a bottle of champagne, having earned special recognition for his work for Police Mutual (PMAS) during 2010.

Steve, who is based at New Milton, said, 'I am really proud of this award.  In telling my colleagues in Hampshire about Police Mutual, I am trying to raise awareness of the need for all of us to take responsibility for our finances.  To have this recognised by Police Mutual feels great!'

Steve was presented with his award at the annual Police Mutual Awards Dinner, part of Police Mutual's annual conference, which this year was held in Cardiff.

And police staff member Michael Horne also has reason to celebrate.  His was the name picked from hundreds of entries to Police Mutual's national monthly free prize draw for serving and retired police officers and staff and their families.  Michael was delighted when he was presented with his prize - a Sony VAIO laptop!

Michael, who is Prisoner Investigation Team Supervisor based at Aldershot, said. 'I'm thrilled to have won. When I entered Police Mutual's prize draw it only took a few minutes but you never expect to win. The laptop will come in very handy, particularly as I was just about to replace my old one."

Michael received his prize from Police Mutual's Regional Development Officer for Hampshire, Simon Horgan.

Police Mutual Assurance Society

Police Mutual was founded in 1922 to provide welfare and financial support for police officers.

It is the UK's largest affinity friendly society with almost £1bn funds under management and has around 220,000 policyholders among serving and retired police officers, staff and their family members.

Police Mutual is owned by, and run by, members of the police service.  Its Committee of Management includes representation from all police ranks to ensure that decisions reflect the needs of the service as a whole.
