On Thursday 7 July 2011, the 16th annual Police
Bravery Awards was held at The Savoy Hotel in London.
For the third consecutive year, Police Mutual (PMAS) is proud to
partner with the Police Federation of England and Wales and support
an award ceremony that salutes Police Officers who have gone beyond
the call of duty.
Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the 59 nominees to a
reception at 10 Downing Street, before the awards ceremony in the
evening. The final eight regional prize-winners and one overall
winner were chosen by a judging panel which includes the founder of
the awards and former Federation Chairman, Fred Broughton;
co-founding member of the committee and fallen officer widow,
Angela Hammond; and anti-violence campaigner Baroness Helen Newlove
of Warrington.
Stephen Mann, Chief Executive of Police Mutual, said, 'Police
Mutual is proud and honoured to be supporting the Police Bravery
Awards. Every day members of the police service risk their
own safety to protect that of others, and I am pleased that Police
Mutual can play a part in recognising some tremendous examples of
this. Our congratulations and thanks go to all the winners and
finalists, as well as to all the officers who perform this
demanding role every day.'
Paul McKeever, Chairman, Police Federation of England and Wales
said,
"Each of these officers are truly deserving winners. I am
extremely proud of their dedication to duty, protecting us all from
harm and threat. Thank you to all of you and well done. Your
actions are an inspiration to us all and a credit to the
service."
