The Police Mutual Foundation supports the welfare of Police
Officers, Staff and their families at a time of increasing risks to
health and wealth.
It's a new and long-term initiative, funded by Police Mutual
Group. The Foundation provides:
- Research and analysis about how police employees' financial
well-being affects Force's performance
- Online health and wellbeing tools
- Mobile health screening
- Help with convalescence from illness, injury or trauma
Support for the Foundation reflects Police Mutual's values of
being passionate about Police welfare. It responds to a gap
in Police Charity provision, which is largely focused on the issue
of death or injury in service.
Research and analysis about how police
employees' financial well-being affects Force's performance
This is a time of change in the Police Service: Winsor,
re-structuring, cutbacks, changes to pay and conditions and
pensions can leave individuals feeling insecure and under
pressure.
The impact of financial stress goes beyond the individual and
can affect the performance of Police Officers and Staff in their
demanding jobs. The Foundation is working to increase
understanding and awareness of the link between individual
financial stress and the performance of Police Forces as a
whole.
Mobile health screening
In-force funding for health-related services is under increasing
pressure.
The Foundation is currently testing a mobile health-screening
service at various locations across the UK to offer free,
confidential health advice and information. The service can
be deployed at individual police stations, divisional HQs, or
alternatively at police events and conferences where a bigger
target audience is often present.
Online health and wellbeing
tools
The Foundation offers a free online tool to help members of the
Police Service, plus friends and family achieve a healthy,
stress-free and balanced lifestyle.
Convalescent facilities
The
Foundation helps eligible Police Officers, Staff and their families
who need to 'get away from it all' because of trauma, illness,
family problems or other issues.
