Sir Denis O'Connor CBE QPM - HM Chief
Inspector of Constabulary for England and Wales
(President)
Denis began his Police career as a Constable
with the Metropolitan Police Service in 1968, leaving after two
years. He rejoined in 1974 as a graduate entrant and rose steadily
through the ranks, working in three different forces over the
course of his career - Metropolitan Police Service, Surrey Police
and Kent Police.
He was appointed Chief Inspector of
Constabulary on May 11 2009 and has received both the Queen's
Police Medal and the CBE. Sir Denis was awarded the Knighthood in
the Queen's Birthday Honours 2010.

Julie Spence OBE QPM BEd LLB MA MBA -
Chairman
Julie began her Police career in Avon and
Somerset Police in 1978. Since then she has held positions in ACPO
as well as Thames Valley Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary,
where she was appointed Chief Constable in 2005.
She was awarded the OBE in 2007 and the Queen's
Police Medal in 2010. She was also President of the British
Association of Women in Policing. Julie was elected to the
Committee of Management as a Vice President in May 2007 and
appointed as Police Mutual's Chair in May 2011.

Sir Hugh Orde OBE QPM, President - Association
of Chief Police Officers
Sir Hugh Orde joined the Metropolitan Police
Service in 1977 and worked in several key roles during his career
before becoming Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern
Ireland (PSNI) in 2002.
He has been awarded an OBE, received a
Knighthood and was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 2010. He was
elected Vice President of the Association of Chief Police Officers
for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and became President in
2009.

Barry Sanjana MA
Barry is an experienced investment professional
with a strong track record and has had previous roles as Chief
Investment Officer at Morley Fund Management Limited and also Chief
Investment Officer at Friends Ivory & Sime plc.
He is currently a non-executive director at
Reliance Mutual Insurance Society Limited and is Chairman of its
Pension Trustee Company. Barry was elected to the Committee of
Management in 2010.

Richard Coates BSc (Econ)
FCA
Richard began his career at KPMG UK in 1973,
and qualified as an accountant in 1976. He has over 25 years'
experience of auditing institutions regulated by the FSA and its
predecessor regulatory bodies and has significant experience of
audit, risk and credit committees.
Richard was appointed to the Committee of
Management in May 2007. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee and
is a member of the Managing Board, Remuneration Committee and
With-Profits Committee.

Michael (Mike) Urmston BA
FIA
Mike has gained a wealth of experience as an
actuary since he qualified in 1981, mainly at Aviva. Mike was
appointed to the Committee of Management in 2006. He took on the
role of Acting Chief Executive in 2008 and was appointed to the
Nomination Committee.
He has now reverted to his role of non-executive director and is
currently Chairman of the With-Profits Committee, a member of the
Audit Committee and the Nomination Committee and a member of the
Managing Board.

David Strang QPM BSc MSc - Executive Vice
President of Chief Police Officers in Scotland
David joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1980, and rose
through the ranks, working in various roles and forces before being
appointed Chief Constable of Lothian and Borders Police in
2007.
He is now the Executive Vice President of the Association of
Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) and was awarded the
Queen's Police Medal in 2002. David was appointed as a Vice
President of the Committee of Management in 2007.

Ian McPherson QPM MBA - Assistant Commissioner
Metropolitan Police
Ian started his career in 1979 in Lancashire Constabulary, and
has since gone on to work in a variety of roles in Merseyside
Police, North Yorkshire Police, Norfolk Constabulary and the
Metropolitan Police Service, where he is now Assistant
Commissioner.
Ian is also the National Lead of the Association of Chief Police
Officers (ACPO) Business Area for Children and Young People. He was
awarded the Queen's Police Medal in the 2009 New Years Honours
List.

Ian Geden FCII
Ian joined NFU Mutual Insurance Society in 1969
and until 2002 held various senior positions within the company. He
was appointed Group Chief Executive in 2002, a position which he
held till his retirement in 2008.
Ian was also Vice Chairman of the Association of British Insurers
(ABI) and was Chairman of the Association of Mutual Insurers. Ian
was appointed to the Committee of Management as a non-executive
director in 2009. He is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee and
is a member of the Audit Committee and Managing Board.

Grahame Maxwell QPM - Chief Constable North
Yorkshire Police
Grahame joined Cleveland Police in 1983 serving
in all ranks and ending his time there as Chief Superintendent
District Commander of Middlesbrough. He has worked in West, South
and North Yorkshire Police forces and was appointed as Chief
Constable of North Yorkshire Police in 2007, where he has been
driving the force's overall change programme.
Grahame was awarded the Queen's Police Medal in
2008 for his contribution to policing and Human Trafficking.
Grahame is the National Lead of the Association of Chief Police
Officers Business Area for Finance and Resources.

Chris Sims OBE MA (Oxon) MBA - Chief Constable
West Midlands Police
Chris began his policing career with the
Metropolitan Police Service in 1980. Over the years he was promoted
through the ranks and worked in Staffordshire Police, West Midlands
Police, and was also seconded to Nottinghamshire Police as a
strategic advisor.
He also held the position of Deputy Chief
Executive and Director of Policing Policy and Practice at the
National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA). Chris is now Chief
Constable of West Midlands Police.

Nicholas
(Nick) Wyer - Dorset Police
Nick joined Dorset Police in 1979 and has since had several
varied roles in the force. He rejoined after retirement as a member
of Police Staff. Nick became an Authorised Officer in 2001 and was
appointed Force Authorised Officer for Dorset Police in 2003.
He was elected to the Committee of Management in 2005. In 2007
Nick was presented with the Society's President's Certificate of
Commendation for his highly commendable service to Police
Mutual.

Ieuan
Watkins - Detective Sergeant Gwent Constabulary
Ieuan began his employment with Gwent Constabulary in 1987 and
has spent the majority of his career within Criminal Investigation.
He is currently the manager of a sex offenders' unit. He has been
commended by his force on five occasions in respect of incidents
and criminal enquiries.
Ieuan was appointed Force Authorised Officer for Gwent
Constabulary in 2003 and was elected to the Committee of Management
in 2007.

Philip (Phil) Haworth - Inspector Greater
Manchester Police
Phil joined Greater Manchester Police in 1982,
working his way through the ranks from Police Constable and Acting
Sergeant at Moss Side, all the way to his current role as Force
Duty Officer, a position he has held for over ten years.
He has acted as an Authorised Officer for the
Society since 2002 and became Force Authorised Officer for Greater
Manchester Police in 2007.

Michael
(Mick) Joiner - Corporate Head of Force Security (Personnel) West
Midlands Police
During his career Mick has held various operational and support
roles within West Midlands Police, reaching Chief Superintendent.
Mick retired in 2004 and immediately commenced his current role as
Corporate Head of Force Security (Personnel) for West Midlands
Police.
Mick was appointed Force Authorised Officer in 1998 and was
awarded the Society's President's Certificate of Commendation in
2004. He was appointed to the Committee of Management in 2005.

Claire Beck ACPO Staff Officer - Sergeant
Cambridgeshire Constabulary
Claire joined Cambridgeshire Constabulary in
June 1983 and has served on divisions in the force in a variety of
roles. Claire was promoted to Sergeant in 2008 and worked as both
reactive and custody sergeant. She recently took on the role of
ACPO Staff Officer to the three Chief Officers.
She has been an Authorised Officer since 2002
and became Force Authorised Officer in 2004. Claire was appointed
to the Committee of Management in 2010.

Robin
Hardiman - Constable Lancashire Constabulary
Robin joined Lancashire Constabulary in 1988. During his time
with the force he has held posts at stations in the Fylde coast
area and has performed specialist roles such as offender management
and intelligence.
Robin is currently part of the Task Force team. He has been an
Authorised Officer of the Society since 2000 and was appointed
Force Authorised Officer in 2006. Robin was appointed to the
Committee of Management in 2010.

Graham Smillie - Strathclyde
Police
Graham joined Strathclyde Police in 1976 as a
cadet, joining the regular force in 1978 and has worked in several
roles during his career prior to retiring in 2009 as Chief
Inspector. Graham then took up a civilian post within the force in
the Organisational Development Department where he currently
serves.
Graham was appointed Authorised Officer in 2004
and became Force Authorised Officer in March 2009. He was appointed
to the Committee of Management in 2010.

Tim Hollis CBE QPM - Chief Constable
Humberside Police
After undertaking a short service commission in
the Parachute Regiment, Tim joined the Metropolitan Police in 1977
where he served for 13 years. He subsequently served in Sussex,
South Yorkshire and with HMIC prior to becoming Chief Constable of
Humberside in 2005.
He is now also an ACPO Vice President. He was
awarded the Queen's Police Medal in 2000 and a CBE in 2010. He was
appointed to the Committee of Management in 2010.

Stephen Mann LLB APMI - Chief
Executive
A lawyer by background, Stephen originally
worked in the City specialising in corporate and financial services
before joining Norwich Union where he became Director of Legal
Services.
He subsequently became an Executive Director with responsibility
for Strategy and Business Services. Stephen joined Police Mutual as
Chief Executive in 2009. Stephen is also a member of the Board of
the Association of Financial Mutuals and the Alico UK Supervisory
Committee.
